Daniel is a seasoned asset manager with almost three decades of experience in various prominent roles within the industry. He has successfully led and executed diverse investment processes across multiple countries, asset classes, and investments strategies catering to some of the largest institutional investors worldwide.
Known for his expertise in quantitative investing, Daniel's passion lies in the broad field of asset management. He takes immense pride in never losing sight of the higher purpose of his work: helping individuals save for retirement, facilitating intergenerational wealth transfer, and contributing to the betterment of society through investments in transformative ideas and companies.
Guided by a strong belief in the power of markets and asset management, Daniel excels in translating the principles of financial market science into investment strategies for his institutional clientele. His journey in the financial world began in 1997 as an ESG analyst at a forward-thinking “green” venture capital boutique. Over time, he transitioned to partner and Chief Investment Officer roles at a hedge fund-of-fund and later at a quantitative asset management firm investing in public markets. At the latter, he managed several tens of billions in assets under management with a sizable multinational team of investment experts located in various countries.
Recently, Daniel embarked on a new venture in the field of asset management, trying to tackle the challenges described in this book with his characteristic drive and determination.
Daniel's career is built upon extensive expertise as a practitioner fortified by his academic background. He holds a PhD and a master’s degree in financial and capital markets Theory from the University of St. Gallen. In addition, he possesses a master’s degree in environmental sciences from ETH Zurich, further augmenting his well-rounded knowledge.
Daniel resides in Switzerland with his partner, where they raise their daughter. During his leisure time, Daniel enjoys immersing himself in the realms of finance, investing, and asset management. Drawing upon his passion, professional expertise, and academic background, he actively engages in teaching finance and asset management courses at the University of St. Gallen.
